Instructions for a Christian household in the time of coronavirus

Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged. Colossians 3 vs 18-21

Nicola Sturgeon, the Scottish first minister, has declared the current government measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus as 'total lockdown'. As a result, many of us are now confined to our homes spending a substantially longer time with our wives, husbands, children and parents than we normally would.

This Sunday, as part of our long running series on Colossians Kenny, our minister, explored the verses above. What better time to be reminded of how not to be harsh and embittering to those closest to us? Instead we should be loving and obedient, reflecting the way Christ has given himself for us. To do this well, we must first understand and focus on all that Christ has done for us and allow this to be the inspiration and foundation for our family relationships. Not least at this difficult time.

This Sunday's service will be live streamed and you can join us in person on zoom.us.
